I can switch the mouse to control the plane or interact with instruments. There is no such annoying thing as a deadzone. You don't have to mess with the trimming too much as you have no mechanical centering. Mouse flying is extremely precise, it makes you fly extremely accurate and litterely feel the plane. Because turning your head with the mouse and controlling the plane would be difficult. Mouse flying works best in VR though and maybe if you have a headtracker.

It works so good, i can't imagine that HOTAS would be any better, no matter what kind of HOTAS. But then i came up with the idea trying mouse flying until i could buy myself HOTAS.īut well, in the end i ended up not buying HOTAS and sticking with the mouse. First i was just using keyboard, i just wanted to see how it performs and how it looks in VR.

But i couldn't stand to try MSFS in VR on my new PC.

I have spend all of my budget for new PC and VR equipment and needed to push buying HOTAS to next month. I've got into mouse flying actually by chance. If you don't like flight sims you could sell it with ease. If one has $120 to blow the VKB Gladiator NXT is bar none a very good bang for your buck, I'll be brazen enough to say even if you're totally new. I remember going to Miami to check it out before it was bought. I still remember my first pretty high-end flight sim setup, It was around 20 years ago and was a setup by ELITE.

My very first joystick was a Logitech WingMan Extreme Digital 3D, I remember playing Pro Pilot a ton with that thing. Get a 200 dollar lenovo explorer or other WNR headset and see if you like it. I mean do do not recomend anyone start out with a vr headset that costs over 600 dollars. I always recomend the baby steps approach. I got into getting my pilots liscense by flying in flight simulators. The extreme 3d pro is good enough to get an idea, then you go in. I got into flight sims with a extreme 3d pro like the majority of the community. I got into RC with a 20 buck toy quadcopter.

I wasn't that much into RC flying before but bought myself a $200 RC simulator and ended up spending $600 on two RC aircraft and another $230 controller. When you determine that you like this, then you buy the higher end sticks and peripherals like a throttle, head tracking and pedals. Better to have only spent 35 bucks in that case then 140 And that flight sims are not for that kind of person. Many people saw the graphics and were sucked in only to dislike the game. I mean I am not saying cheap out on peripherals, I am saying don't go out and spend over 100 dollars before determining whether or not something is or is not for you. I am sitting with a VKB gunfighter with all of the available grips asside from the cosmosina since I dislike that one. Of course not, but its enough for you to determine if you like flight sims or not. I don't think someone should cheap themselves out on peripherals, they can really play a huge role in your enjoyment in a flight sim. I agree with you on the pedals in that they're not really required though they do help, I currently have some that cost me $845 but currently just use the twist on my VKB Gladiator NXT, I can't be bothered to keep moving my pedals between PCs. I've gone through $50 joysticks to $2000 yokes. Like you I too have been through a lot of peripherals including two of those Pro Flight Yoke setups, they're junk. Originally posted by unknown:The logitech extreme 3d pro at 35 bucks is hard to beat.Ī $35 Logitech joystick will not give you the same feel nor is up to the same standard in quality as a $120 + shipping for a VKB joystick, for what it offers it's pretty dirt cheap.
